Apple officially unveiled the new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max, the most advanced iPhones we’ve ever seen with a vision for the next level in the smartphones category.
iPhone Xs with 5.8 ” screen and iPhone Xs Max with 6.5″ screen possess impressive Super Retina panels, a faster and more advanced dual camera system with revolutionary video and photo capture features, and the first A12 Bionic processor made at 7nm with new generation Neural Engine, faster Face ID, enhanced stereo sound, gorgeous gold finish and a dual-SIM slot on the iPhone for the first time.
Pre-orders begin on Friday 14 September and its release will begin on September 28 in Gold, Space Gray and Silver colors.
iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max come with the all-screen design of the iPhone X and feature the clearest screens with the highest resolution we’ve ever seen on an Apple device.
With 5.8 ” and 6.5″ size respectively, these Super Retina displays with custom OLED design support the Dolby Vision and HDR10 standards, and are accompanied by a color management system that totally governs the iOS operating system for industry leading fidelity.
iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max offer 1,000,000:1 contrast with incredible brightness and true black color, while displaying a 60% greater dynamic range in HDR photos.
iPhone Xs Max offers the ultimate experience with more than 3 million pixels for videos, movies and games, with the largest screen we’ve ever seen on iPhone even though the build is of a similar size to that of iPhone 8 Plus.
Surgical stainless steel is now used in gold, silver and space gray color. Playing music on a wider stereo channel creates a livelier audio experience.
On the front and rear there is the strongest glass we’ve ever seen on a smartphone with improved scratch resistance while the rear glass cover supports wireless charging technology.
iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max are IP68 protocol certified for water resistance at depths of up to 2m for 30 minutes, but also for protection against any minor accident that can occur in the user’s daily routine such as rain drops, water, coffee, tea etc.
A12 Bionic and new generation Neural Engine
Apple has designed the new A12 Bionic processor, the first in the industry built with the 7nm process to deliver the highest performance we’ve seen so far on a smartphone.
The A12 Bionic features a hexa-core CPU with 2x high performance cores that are 15% faster, 4x cores for the other processes with 50% reduced consumption.
In addition, the embedded GPU has 4x cores for 50% faster speed and there is also a new Image processor (Image Signal Processor – ISP) designed by Apple, video encoder, and more.
As far as the storage space is concerned, users can get the new iPhone with storage up to 512GB to cover any need in games, photos, videos etc. All of this has no effect on the battery as iPhone Xs offers 30 minutes and iPhone Xs Max 90 minutes more autonomy compared to iPhone X.
The next-generation Neural Engine is specially constructed for advanced mechanical learning technology in everything that has to do with photography and augmented reality.
A new eight-core design allows to run 5 trillion processes per second, compared to the 600 billion of A11 Bionic. This opens up new horizons for ARKit’s capabilities and new features that take advantage of mechanical learning in real time.
For the first time, Neural Engine is open to Core ML, so developers can create applications that take advantage of all the possibilities of mechanical learning. The Core ML running on the Neural Engine of the A12 Bionic is 9 times faster than the A11 Bionic and consumes only 1/10 of the energy.
Revolutionary 12MP Dual Camera System
iPhone Xs continues to bring great innovations in the field of photography, for things that were not previously possible on iPhones.
Features such as advanced depth recognition, Smart HDR function for high dynamic range and detail, advanced bokeh effect in portrait shots with adjustable depth of field setting after shooting through the Photos app and awesome improvements in shooting techniques that can be used by everyone.
The 12MP dual camera has dual optical zoom (dual O.I.S.) with 2x optical zoom, while the new sensor is twice as fast. Smart HDR creates photos with more highlights and detail in shadows. Larger and deeper pixels improve image fidelity and performance in low light conditions.
Advanced Portrait Deployment in Portrait mode brings even better portraits of professional level bokeh effect. The new depth management system allows the user to dynamically adjust the depth of field through the Photos application and view the results in real-time after they have taken the shot.
The True Depth front camera supports advanced Depth Control for great selfies, with fast face detection and Memoji in order to be used by third-party ARKit applications.
IPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max offer the ultimate video capture experience on smartphones. With large number of pixels, quality and fast lens sensor, very good low-light performance and video stabilization, as well as enhanced dynamic range, offer maximum detail in video modes for shooting at 30 frames per second. Moreover, by having 4 built-in microphones, users can record stereo sound in parallel with their videos.
Face ID, the safest facial certification system on smartphones, is now faster.
The True Depth camera with its advanced recognition technology allow users to easily and accurately unlock the device and access security application at a glance.
IPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max feature a Gigabit-class LTE modem for faster download and dualSIM capability through the use of a Nano-SIM and digital eSIM.
Moreover, its WiFi hardware supports as always the latest 802.11ac features such as MIMO or MU-MIMO for improved performance offered by the latest WiFi routers and systems and for increased wireless coverage.
IOS 12 operating system
iPhone Xs and the iPhone Xs Max come with iOS 12, the most advanced operating system on the market used on iPhone devices only.
The iOS 12 brings new experiences of augmented reality, helps users to revisit and share photos, and makes communication more fun with the new Animoji and Memoji.
Screen Time updates and helps users to better understand and manage the time they spend on iOS devices, while Siri Shortcuts allow each application to collaborate with the virtual assistant. There are also new security features for greater protection from tracking when surfing the Internet.
